Here is a posting of some recent work I did on a Kunibert gouger that had a lot of miles on it. It arrived partially disassembled and crusted with metal polish and rust. Many of the adjusting screws and bolt heads were damaged and had to be replaced.

The Kunibert Michel design features a completely adjustable carriage for the blade as well as the ability to slide the cane bed to give either a concentric or eccentric gouge. Because the machine was not in the original position (the parts were not in "correct" relation to each other, it took me quite a while to figure out how to get it properly adjusted. Luckily the owner was in no hurry for it back.

The last photo is a detail of the cleaned, adjusted and assembled carriage.

Once back together correctly, with a sharpened blade, this machine gouges cane really beautifully!
